When Queenslander Mike was looking for his first powered wheelchair, he had a lot of friends recommend he visit wheelchair agent Power Mobility. With their assistance, he viewed a range of powerchair brands including the compact Magic Mobility Frontier V6 C73.
The Frontier V6 C73 ticked every box, including ones Mike didn’t know he had. In his new chair, Mike can get outdoors, visit friends and enjoy his passion for pontoon boating on the river where he lives.
“I wanted a chair that would enable me to get out and tend my garden,” Mike said.
Mike worked with Kevin Cosier, an experienced powerchair sales rep at Power Mobility to tailor his powerchair with specific features that would allow him to go further.
“Power Mobility put together a demo with the features that I needed and brought it to my house for a trial. I was impressed by its maneouverability and obstacle climbing ability,” Mike said.
“I live on the river and have a pontoon boat, but the walkway to the jetty can be quite steep. My Frontier V6 C73 is able to get me to the boat and back safely.”
Mike takes his pontoon boat to the local Sailability group meets, and takes other people in wheelchairs on excursions down the river.
He also visits friends in his street, and is able to negotiate gutters, curbs and steps into houses that he says people don’t notice when they’re not in wheelchairs.
In addition to its off-road capacity, Mike found that the Frontier V6 C73 wasn’t held back by the limitations of some of his friends’ powerchairs. Additionally, it’s smaller footprint makes it perfect for navigating inside the home.
His chair was customised with the assistance of the team at Power Mobility, who were able to fit the powerchair to Mike and add-on features to suit his lifestyle.
These features include power functions like lift and tilt, which Mike uses to stay comfortable throughout the day.
We asked Mike to sum up his wheelchair in three words which he described as a “life enhancement tool’’.
