Tennessee State Parks’ commitment to inclusive access

Thanks to Tennessee State Parks’ commitment to inclusive access, now everyone, regardless of ability, can explore most of the state’s incredible parks.

With the recent addition of a further ten Extreme X8 powerchairs to their fleet, Tennessee’s State Parks now offer people with impaired mobility the opportunity to explore up to thirty of their parks.

These off-road chairs are free to the public and available for both children and adults.

The chairs can be operated independently, or with offer the option of allowing attendant control at the rear of the chair.

As far as we know, this is one of the most outstanding examples of community commitment to enable everyone to experience the recreational opportunities that most able-bodied people take for granted.

Sunrise Medical has been proud to support a program that ensures more people than ever have the ability to explore the beautiful state parks of Tennessee, USA.

We hope that all of our subscribers share their support for this sort of state government commitment, particularly where public funding is not available for off-road powerchairs.

We are also proud to note that our parent company, Sunrise Medical, who has offices and a factory in Tennessee, played a key role in advocating to make this additional level of accessibility possible for the greater public.

“At Sunrise Medical, we understand that the world is not flat, and with our Magic Mobility power chairs, we believe that everyone, regardless of ability, should have the opportunity to explore Tennessee’s incredible state parks,” said Larry Jackson, president of Sunrise Medical North America.

If you’re in Tennessee, you can find out more about the program or reserve a chair here.

If you would like to trial one of our off-road powerchairs, you can contact us or find your local agent or distributor via our website.
