Read MoreKey powerchair features often mentioned by Magic Mobility users as most life-enabling, are the seat lift and tilt functions. There are many reasons why being able elevate upwards is a huge advantage in working life.
Being affected by a musculoskeletal disability can often make undertaking physical jobs impossible, so many of our users pursue working careers where person-to-person communications are essential. These users often note that talking from a sitting position up to someone who is standing is not only uncomfortable, it can prove to be socially awkward.
Ray Jordan uses his Magic Mobility Frontier V6 C73 to travel the world representing his own company at trade shows. Speaking about the value of the lift function on his powerchair, Ray says “It puts me at a more convenient height to talk to potential customers”. It also enables him to use his laptop on benches and tables that are higher than standard which, he says, “comes in pretty handy”.
Ray also notes that the integrated lift and tilt function enables him to stay comfortable over long working days by using the tilt to redistribute his weight throughout the day.
Another obvious advantage the lift function is to provide you with access to higher places or things that would be otherwise out of reach to a powerchair user.
In the office, it means being able to reach higher shelves or see over barriers.
And for some, the elevate function can also be a means to transfer onto places where there is work to be done.
Leonie Dean lives and works on her family’s farm. Talking about the lift on her Magic Mobility Extreme X8 Leonie says “It has allowed me to work on my cars again! I am a car girl and have 3 cars, 2 of which are classic cars I’ve not been able to work on for many years. But now I can get right up to them, can transfer over to get things done in the engine bays and raise the seat to reach up taller”.
With a bit of help, Leonie also uses her lift to get on and off the horses that she trains and exercises.
