Networks that help you push the limits

A Magic Mobility powerchair has the capacity to take you just about anywhere, but sometimes it’s nice to have the support of a network who can help take you even further.

Networks like BackUp work to build confidence and independence for people with disabilities, and enable power wheelchair users to meet their challenges.

BackUp Trust exists to transform the lives of everyone affected by spinal cord injury. BackUp delivers a range of services to build confidence and independence back into peoples’ lives, and offering a support network when it is needed most. They also challenge perceptions of disability, proving that life with a spinal chord injury can be full and active.

Their team delivers wheelchair skills training in hospitals and spinal centres. They also deliver residential courses to help build confidence, provide a support network and opportunities to learn life skills that allow them to be as independent as possible.

Katy completed the Snowdon Push in 2017

Each year, BackUp holds the Snowdon Push, a fundraising event in which teams of 10 to 16 people aim to conquer Mount Snowden, Wales. Mount Snowdon is the highest mountain in England and Wales. One member of each team must be a wheelchair user, and their teammates must push, pull, climb and wheel to reach the summit, and then safely back down again.

This year, two of the teams that completed the Snowdon Push used Magic Mobility Extreme X8 powerchairs. The teams comprised of friends, family, and Magic Mobility and BackUp representatives.

Rob completed Tough Mudder with his team twice.

Other Magic Mobility powerchair users have built their own networks to tackle massive challenges. In 2015, Rob completed the grueling Tough Mudder with a team of family and friends. You can read his story here.
