Mastering the kerb climb

Sometimes the simplest of rises in your powerchair can seem the biggest of mountains.

There’s simple and straightforward advice to help you tackle them. And don’t just take it from us!

Magic Mobility Extreme X8 user Henry Vivet shares his words of wisdom (and home made video – thanks Henry!) for approaching and conquering the everyday mountains.

  • Approach with caution and not too fast
  • Tackle a kerb, porch or stair straight on, so both wheels touch the obstacle together
  • Don’t attempt to climb an obstacle at an angle

And while we’re at it, our Design Engineer, Lachie shows you how to tackle a kerb in the Frontier V6 MWD powerchair. Same philosophy, different chair.

Do you have any tips for other wheelchair users in your Magic Mobility powerchair? If so we’d love to hear from you. Contact us today.

Please remember that it is not safe to climb stairs in your wheelchair.
