Steering spring for the Extreme X8

All new Extreme X8 models without a powered steering lock now come with our steering spring as standard. The spring is also available as a retrofit accessory for existing X8 models from 2014 onwards that do not have a powered steering lock.

The 4″ heavy-duty steel spring is pre-tensioned for responsiveness and zinc-plated for long-term resistance to corrosion and wear.

It helps stabilise the X8’s steering, which you’ll notice most on flat terrain and at lower speed profiles. It also reduces wheel deflection, so the chair drives more smoothly and predictably in both forward and reverse.

For users who want maximum steering control in more challenging environments, our powered steering lock is still available as a premium option. It fully isolates the steering mechanically when reversing, crossing obstacles or driving over rough terrain.
