Crossover to greater versatility

An active family’s indoor/outdoor freedom can depend on having a powerchair with tyres that can handle all sorts of terrains – from cracks in concrete to tackling rocks or roots. In the past, the choice was simply between narrow hybrid tyres or fat, knobby tyres. We’re pleased to announce that there’s now a middle option that’s designed for versatility – the Crossover tyre.

Crossover tyres offer both manoeuvrability and ride comfort.

Active family life takes us to all sorts of places – from playgrounds and parks to busy streets or cluttered shops. At around 11 cm / 4.5 inches wide, our interchangeable Crossover tyres* are the ideal compromise between the narrow manoeuvrability of a Hybrid tyre, and the soft-riding, hard-gripping comfort and security of an Off-road tyre.

Interchangeable on most of our Frontier V6 and V4 powerchairs, Crossover tyres add only about 25 mm / 1 inch to the chair’s base width compared with the narrower, Hybrid tyre option.

Like the larger, knobby Off-road tyres, the deeper walls and lower tyre pressure of the Crossover tyre provide a smoother ride than the Hybrid. Across mixed terrain, the slight reduction in traction from the Off-road tyre may help to reduce tyre fatigue when travelling longer distances.

For people with floors that get marked by black knobby outdoor tyres, the Crossover also comes in a low-marking, light grey rubber that is less likely to leave visible marks.

Like all of our tyres, Crossovers can be fitted with the Neverflat option which, as the name suggests, goes a long way to ensuring you’ll never get stranded out and about with a flat tyre. Or, if you need absolute peace of mind, they can also be fitted with a puncture-resistant tyre liner.
